OK, it's time. Convert to Firefox. Really, it's time.
If you're familiar with Firefox, you may leave without reading this article and may enjoy the photos instead. Otherwise, you're obligated to read on...
Some of you may remember the browser, the one that actually (well not actually) started it all, Netscape. Anybody remember it? I remember it, actually quite well, had to support it for years at Rose.Net tech support. Well, I hated Netscape because like many I was brain washed into the Microsoft mindset. The Microsoft blankie was soft and warm or at least I thought it was. After spending some time fixing what Micro$oft hailed (over and over again mind you) was the latest and greatest browser there was this remnant of people who refused to use IE and stuck with Netscape. Knowing what I know now, I salute those early pioneers those who refused to conform and make Tech Support for the Micro$oft brainwashed 'techies' easier.
Well I could bore you with the details of the demise of Netscape and the rebirth of Firefox but I'll spare you. If you really are interested have a look here. That article is from 2004 and a interesting read.
Anyway, Firefox came out few years ago and quickly rose to the challenge issued by IE with the introduction of it's new browser(s). Firefox went thru it's own run of problems, memory leaks vulnerabilities and the lack of website programmers not using standards compliant coding. Which, to most folks looked like Firefox didn't work. Well, trust me it works, and it works awesome.
Faster than IE, more secure than IE, summed up but cheaply worded...it's simply better.
Ok, so w/ the links provided and my backing of the product, what more do you need :-), you really should get it. It can run along side IE w/o messing anything up. Kick the tires, try it, copy your bookmarks when Firefox asks you and if you chose not to because you weren't sure, here are the instructions to do it manually
Also, here is a little help for those of you who feel better with a little hand holding.
