Putty and number lock

By wes - Posted on 12 August 2008

If you've ever used Putty you've probably run into the problem where you numlock doesnt product the expected results as it does while using it outside of Putty. Seems there are some special characters associated with the number pad and Putty has a driver/handler or something to that affect that basically causes problems for the numpad and *nix connections.

I found the answer to that problem here .

The fix is:

Open Putty
Terminal -> Features ->Disable application keypad mode

If you check that box you'll have a "normally" functioning keypad.

If you have sessions already saved that you want to implement this on it's a little more work.

Load the session, make the change in Terminal -> Features, click back on Session click on the save button, rinse and repeat.

More of an aggravation that finally forced me to find the solution, thought I'd pass it along.
